Summer has finally arrived!

After a slow start this season - and month delay for our CSA program - summer has graced us with sun, heat, and lots of thunderstorms lately. One of the most fun parts of horse-farming has turned out to be cover cropping - check out these pictures of Stew discing down a strip of buckwheat. He also used the disc and spring-tooth harrows to prepare ground that we seeded to crimson clover and oats and peas, which are coming up nicely with the recent spells of rain. It really makes us feel good to know we're feeding the soil and adding organic matter and nutrients to the fields. Maybe that's what you call farmer endorphins!
