The ground is finally frozen, there is a dusting of snow...it's logging time! In the winter, Stewart uses the horses to haul logs out of the forest, which allows for sustainable forestry. We sell firewood, logs and, hopefully in the future, lumber from our FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified woodlots.
We say goodbye to the 2011 CSA season
Today was a belated pick-up due to the storm, and our last of 2011!
We're already thinking of next year, and considering having drop-off points in Annapolis Royal, and perhaps Bridgetown too. Stay tuned for details coming in the new year!
Feel free to get in touch with us in the meantime if you are interested in joining: info(at)whippletreefarm.ca

Upcoming Forestry Workshop
Along with the Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute (MTRI), we're hosting a Forestry Health and Stewardship Workshop this Sunday, October 23rd from 12 to 5 pm at our woodlot in Round Hill. Stewart will be giving a horse-logging demonstration, and there will be several talks throughout the afternoon. Come by and find out more about sustainable forestry!
Ah, Garlic!
We just finished harvesting our garlic this weekend and will have table stock to sell in once it has cured (by early September). Unfortunately we won't be able to sell any of our seed stock this year. We will be selling garlic at the market until it is sold out...we also sell in bulk so let us know whether you'd like to order 1, 10 or 100 lbs!
CSA Still Open to New Members
This week marks the 5th week of our 20-week CSA, which runs until the 3rd week of November. People can join at any time, and the total cost is based on a value of $25/week. We can be flexible with payment options to make sure that everyone has access to healthy, fresh, high quality vegetables. Send us an e-mail if you'd like more information: info(at)whippletreefarm.ca
