Whippletree Farm is starting its first year of operations in Round Hill, NS (located just outside Annapolis Royal). In 2010, Stewart Fotheringham and Nicole Burkhard started Whippletree Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) on rented land near Windsor, NS and delivered vegetables to members in HRM. Now that we have our own farm here in Annapolis County, our goal is to offer our CSA of high-quality produce to our local community.
Our small family farm is a little out of the ordinary since we use draft horses for cultivation (Suffolk Punch and Norwegian Fjord breeds). Although horse-power used to be more common decades ago, it fits perfectly with our goal of using appropriate technology (old and new) for ecological farming.
We are in the process of updating our website for the 2011 season, and will be posting more information in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we invite you to read about our CSA program on the 'How to Join' page and read a few posts from last season....
Feel free to contact us at info@whippletreefarm.ca if you have any questions.
